The bill requires the Office of the State Auditor to contract for an evaluation of the Department of Correction’s budget practices. The bill increases state expenditures in FY 2024-25 only. By October 1, 2024, the Office of the State Auditor will engage a third-party consultant to conduct an evaluation of the Department of Corrections. The evaluation will examine:
The consultant must report preliminary finding to the General Assembly by March 1, 2025, and make final recommendations by June 30, 2025.
