The bill creates a working group in the Department of Public Safety (CDPS) to identify all state entities that collect data or report on recidivism, and to develop a definition of recidivism for these entities. The timeline for the working group is as follows:
- Appointments to the working group must be made by September 1, 2024.
- The working group must develop the definition of recidivism by January 15, 2025, and provide it to affected entities by January 31, 2025.
- Beginning July 1, 2025, state entities must use the working group’s definition in their reporting and include the definition in any documents or reports with recidivism data.
